Received an invite to a baby shower and don’t know where to begin? Looking for registry inspiration? I’m here to give you my honest take on the essentials and why renting just makes sense. The topic of renting vs. owning will be a great party convo (perhaps debate?) and leave seasoned parents wishing they had the option when their kids were born. Here are some of my personal faves.
Illustrative toy box assortment
Loop Toy Box (0 - 24 mo.)
The gift that keeps on giving. Toys can quickly overrun your home and when babies are very young you want to keep it fresh by swapping them out as your baby goes through new developmental leaps. The Loop toy box subscription comes with a book and five high quality toys that are selected based on the baby’s age and stage of development. The toy box is replaced with a new box every 2-3 months keeping your home clutter-free and your baby engaged. Every time they get a new delivery they will be grateful they don’t have to do the research to figure out what to get next. It’s easy, fun, practical…the ultimate shower gift.
3-in-1 Evolve Bouncer + Toy Bar
Ergobaby 3-in-1 Evolve Bouncer + Toy Bar
A safe place to put down baby. New parents need to be able to put their baby down to eat a meal, take a shower, or just get a little break. This lounger comes with a newborn insert that helps prevent flat spots on your newborns head and was designed by a pediatric orthopedist to make sure it provides support in all the right spots. It’s super lightweight so you can carry it around from room to room and it can fold flat for easy storage. It also comes with an ocean-themed toy bar with soft toys for the baby to look at and grab. This is an everyday essential.
Yogasleep Travel Sound Machine + Carry Case
Yogasleep Travel Sound Machine + Carry Case
Real talk—Newborn naps don’t all have to happen at home.  Babies sleep a lot and new parents need to be able to go out and escape their own home. One of my favorite parent hacks is the portable white noise machine. It helps to drown out the background noise so the baby can still catch some Z’s while out and about. It’s also great to bring on overnight trips to visit relatives and friends.
Baby Brezza One-Step Bottle Sterilizer & Dryer
Baby Brezza One-Step Bottle Sterilizer & Dryer
Having to wash bottles sucks. And then having to dry them is even more annoying. It’s one of those after-thoughts that comes after keeping the baby fed, clean, sleeping, etc. But it actually provides a lot of peace of mind to know that your baby is feeding from something sterile. This makes parents' lives easier by taking care of the cleaning and the drying for up to 6 bottles at a time and is great for bottle accessories too. For a tired parent who would rather be snuggling with their baby than hand washing bottles, this product is gold.
4moms mamaRoo Sleep Bassinet
4moms mamaRoo Sleep Bassinet + Sheet
To give the gift of sleep. It’s like a robot bassinet that soothes your baby to sleep with various movements and sounds. It’s almost not fair to previous generations of parents that this exists. It’s perfect for the early months before transitioning to a crib.
Babyzen YOYO2 6+ Stroller
Babyzen YOYO2 6+ Stroller
At some point during my parenting journey I realized I didn’t need to pack half of my baby's belongings every time I left the house. It was around this time that I switched to a more manageable set of wheels for my little (and wished I had switched earlier!). Marketed as a travel stroller, this Babyzen quickly became my everyday one. It can be used from birth with the newborn pack. The ride is smooth. I can easily sip an iced coffee with one hand while pushing this stroller with the other. It’s compact and easy to maneuver and it folds down really small to easily fit into the back of a taxi or overhead storage bin.
